About album: “Unusual Music Box” contains eight personal pieces, which express our emotions, feelings, thoughts and experiences. Each composition has a different style and mood, with its own temperament. The music box we created is non-obvious and cannot be contained in any way diagram. Everyone can understand this album in their own individual way.

All compositions from “Unusual Music Box” are created for a duo, but with frequent changes in instrumentation. On this record, you will hear pieces played on two marimbas, marimba and vibraphone, vibraphone and frame drum, as well as various small percussion instruments.

On the album you’ll find both a lyrical and melodious ballad, as well as a short, vibrant piece performed by two artists on a single instrument. There’s also a minimalist, trance composition for two marimbas, and romantic pieces infused with a large dose of virtuosity. The record also includes a track deeple rooted in improvised music performed on the vibraphone and percussion instruments (frame drum, shaker), providing the rhythmic foundation.

“Unusual Music Box” is an obvious continuation of the concept of music and a display of the artists’ virtuosity. The specificity of the instruments (marimba, vibraphone) allows the sound and moods to be created precisely, but with full respect for the classical tradition and – often exposed – improvisation. This is an extremely important album in the modest discography of the “Polish percussion school”, but interesting enough to perceive the presented works as an interesting set of compositions and their virtuoso interpretation.
